Karl Johan Hotel

The KJH is in the very middle of Oslo's VERY busy city center. Everything you'll want to access is either walkable or easy to get to by bus or train from the KJH. The hotel is grand, and while it exudes elegance, it's approachable without being overly fussy. Our small, comfortable room was quiet, considering the hustle and bustle of everything going on in the town center. KJH serves a nice breakfast, though there was a bit of frustration with our early departure on our second morning. Apparently, we asked for a breakfast-to-go too late for the kitchen to accommodate; however, two separate front desk staff assured me we'd be taken care of the next morning. Lo and behold, there was nothing ready for us when we left in the early morning for the airport. It wasn't a big deal, but we definitely could have prepared far better had we first been forewarned at check-in or later if we'd been told the kitchen was unable to accommodate our late request. That whole incident was poorly handled by multiple levels of staff and needs better customer service attention so KJH's future guests don't have the same hassle and frustration. Other than that little mishap, the KJH staff was really, really great. I will recommend the KJH to any of my friends and family traveling to Oslo. I'd also like to make a shout-out to a restaurant where we ended up eating four times over two days because it was just so delicious: Spor Av Nord at Tollbugata 7B, Oslo 0152 +47 973 44 010. It's off the beaten path, on the way to the Opera House. We ended up trying nearly everything on their menu. Every dish was a delight!

Best breakfast in Scandinavia. The buffet had everything imaginable. (Even a gluten free section with breads cookies and batter to make waffles) . It was quality and quantity combined The room was extremely quiet as I requested a room in the back. It was very clean. The only thing missing was a luggage rack . The room was small and the floor space was limited to open a suitcase. A microwave would have been nice but I don’t know where you would put it. It had a safe refrigerator ironing board , steam presser. Nice chair and lamp . Temperature control with a thermostat. It could have used CNN international as the only English station was sky tv. It is extremely central to all tourist sites. It’s never more than a 10 to15 min walk to anywhere of significance. If I was to return this would be the hotel.

The hotel was beautiful. Our room was a bit on the small side but well-appointed, with comfortable bedding and bed, and a modern bathroom with all the amenities. The breakfast buffet was extensive, and the food was excellent. We arrived early and were able to get into our room before check-in. All of the front desk staff were friendly and helpful - a special shoutout to Kaspar, who provided us with cappuchinos and showed us the hotel balcony, where we could sit outside on a rainy day and watch passersby on the street below. The location is great for exploring downtown Oslo - we arrived by train (Oslo Central Station) from the airport and walked the approximately 1/2 mile to the hotel (slightly uphill; easier going the other way). The hotel is across the street from a park and within easy walking distance to many attractions, parks, shops, and restaurants.

The hotel is on Karl Johan street in an excellent location in the city center ! From the airport with the train to Oslo S and then walk about 10 minutes. The room was big enough for 1 person, I took the 23sqm room, the bathroom is very big with the best cosmetics products. Iron and coffee machine in the room !Excellent bed and pillows, good breakfast in an very nice restaurant, good internet. Very clean!

The location of the hotel is excellent; a pleasant neighbourhood and very convenient for visiting the main attractions of the city. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms were very well presented and comfortable; the bed was equally comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.
